I said "developers who disrespect developers burn bridges they are meant to use". Maintainers are developers too. It cuts both ways.

And a non-maintainer who builds longstanding animosity and conflict with another non-maintainer and then expects a maintainer to be the arbiter is bringing pain to all involved. It becomes more about sniping and stone-walling than what is good for the code.

I have recent experience dealing with that exact situation. It was _awful_. The Linux community isn't always fine. But just because negative experiences influence peoples' views of the health of the Linux community doesn't mean it is a cesspool.

And FYI, I'm a maintainer. I consider myself qualified to have a voice in this discussion too.

I'm not saying everything is perfect. But I also don't think the Linux kernel community on the precipice of certain gloom and doom like Daniel would have us all believe. Projecting a self-help book's content onto a development community is an exercise in pissing in the wind.. sorry but Daniel's views are the minority for a reason.

It sounds more like you're trying to devalue a voice than contribute as a voice. The response you got wasn't telling you to stop contributing to the discussion, but that devaluing the article without much substance isn't really contributing.

Don't attack me for saying this either. I'm taking authority on your motivations etc, just echoing how the tone reads.

Err, I meant I'm *not* taking any such authority.
