The first generation Twingo debuted at the Paris Motor Show in September 1992. Its name is taken from the words twist, swing and tango. The Twingo was not available to purchase in the UK, however a number of left-hand-drive models were imported throughout its lifespan. In April 1993, the Twingo launched on Continental Europe with only one trim level, and four exterior colours: Coral Red, Indian Yellow, Coriander Green and Overseas Blue. The car retailed at a price of 55,000FF. Production and sales of Twingo I ended in 2007.
