Cutting Down Food Waste
Food recovery is a win-win-win solution. Hungry people gain access to meals; businesses reduce wasting water, energy, and oil on producing food that ends up rotting in landfills. Bon Appétit Management Co. has pledged that by 2018, 80% of its accounts will be Food Recovery Certified. Currently, its kitchens donate more than 100,000 pounds of food annually through food recovery programs.
What We Do
Sustainable Seafood
Compass Group committed to purchasing 100% of our canned skipjack tuna from sources using fish aggregating devices (FAD) free methods beginning in January 2015. This represents over 1.9 million pounds of skipjack tuna.
What We Do
Imperfectly Delicious Produce (IDP) program
Developed in partnership with Bon Appétit Management Co., Compass Group launched Imperfectly Delicious Produce in 2014 to fight food and water waste by “rescuing” or purchasing imperfect fruits and vegetables from growers and distributors—produce deemed unsellable because its appearance. 445,000 pounds of produce have been saved to date.
