The CIAN network aims to promote, connect and enable the advancement of intercultural arts practice, research and policy and the reframing of intercultural creativies in education.

The network seeks to address:

  • What can we discover and claim about the cultural orthodoxies, issues, conflicts and debates relating to the documentation and analysis of intercultural arts practices? How can we open up new possibilities for responding to transcultural practices and new forms of engagement with individuals, cultures and traditions?
  • How does intercultural engagement arise through interdisciplinary practices and translate into pedagogic practices as a milieu for change?
  • How does understanding intercultural arts practice vary across different global contexts, idioms and performance conditions and how can we create socially just research spaces?
  • What is the potential of intercultural arts teaching to prepare learners to meet and communicate in different cultures and societies, other than their usual context?

Join us and become part of our network so we can send you:
