Journal of Trainee Teacher Educational Research

Welcome to the website of JoTTER, the Journal of Trainee Teacher Educational Research. The Journal is intended as a means of sharing some of the research and scholarship undertaken by graduate students preparing to qualify as school teachers through the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

JoTTER is an open-access journal which publishes papers that we hope will be of interest to teachers and others working in education. The abstracts of published papers can be found by following the links to the left.

Links to download the full text of papers are provided with the abstracts. All published papers remain the copyright of their authors, and we request that users of the journal should read the copyright statement before downloading any papers.

Jottings from the editor:

Volume 1 (2010) - 6 (2015) of JoTTER are now 'on line'. The published papers relate to a wide range of topics.

Call for papers

Submissions for Volume 5 of JoTTER will shortly be invited from PGCE trainees completing their course in the Summer of 2013. Studies for consideration should be recommended by Faculty supervisors/PGCE examiners, and will be subject to peer review before a decision is made on publication.

Full details of how to format and submit papers for the journal are available from JoTTER@educ.ac.uk or at

https://camtools.cam.ac.uk/wiki/site/%7Ekst24/journal%20of%20trainee%20teacher%20educational%20research.html .

There are now papers published in JoTTER relating to most curriculum subjects, and most year groups, as well as drawing upon a wide range of themes.

Call for editorial associates

We are currently looking to identify PGCE students about to complete their course, who would be interested in working as an editorial associate for the Journal of Trainee Teacher Educational Research. All submissions to the journal are subjected to peer review: that is they are read by other PGCE students/graduates who are asked to comment on aspects of the assignment and check if there are any problems that should be addressed before possible publication. These reviewers are the journal's editorial associates. We are seeking volunteers willing to act as reviewers this Summer. We expect to ask reviewers to complete 2 reviews, which involves reading two different submissions, and completing and returning a simple report form for each. Reviewers may be asked to read assignments either within or across subjects/phase, as all JoTTER submissions should be intelligible to any teacher.
We are keen to speed up our editorial processes, so we are especially interested in identifying volunteers who would be prepared to read and report on two submissions, and return their reports, before the end of July 2013. To volunteer, please send an email to JoTTER@educ.ac.uk Giving the following details:

  •     Your name
  •     An email address where you can be reached during the Summer
  •     Your phase / subject
  •     Name of your faculty supervisor
  •     When you are available to review during the Summer
