Women in Physics

The University undertakes many initiatives aimed at promoting equality and diversity in the workplace. The Women in Physics web pages provide a focal point to highlight news and events which support the career development of women in physics, particularly at the Cavendish.

The Department of Physics has achieved the first Athena SWAN gold award for the University, for boosting the role of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) departments.

The principles underlying the Athena SWAN awards, and supporting women in Physics, have driven much of the activity in Career Management and Development for contract research staff. All contract research staff, college research fellows and those on personal fellowships are encouraged to take full advantage of the whole range of activities and programmes which are available to help them develop their career to the next stage.
