Courses: Study Opportunities for Prospective Students
The Faculty offers a wide range of high quality courses in a variety of different levels of study: from undergraduate through to doctoral level programmes. There is an extensive choice of subject specialisms on offer as well as a focus on education as a discipline.
All courses are taught by staff who are nationally and internationally recognised as experts in their field. Courses appeal to full-time and part-time students, to international and UK-based applicants, and to practitioners in schools and other professions. External evaluations and student evaluations consistently attest to outstanding teaching and high levels of student satisfaction.
Here is an overview detailing the courses we offer:
The Education Tripos (BA) is acknowledged as the best undergraduate degree in Education in both the Guardian and Complete University Guides. The degree is rated highly by our current students.
The 2011 Ofsted inspection of our Early Primary / Primary and Secondary PGCE initial teacher education / training (ITET) provision concluded that the course was outstanding on every one of the 22 inspection criteria. Uniquely, no recommendations for consideration, or further action, were made.
Our graduate courses were rated highly by students in last year’s national PTES survey, outperforming other Russell Group universities. 95% of students rated our teaching quality as ‘consistently good’. We aim to combine theory and research - and where appropriate integrate this with professional practice.
Each term we run a variety of different professional development courses, both through our Faculty based programme of PPD and by individual research.
Our PPD Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling Training is accredited by both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Association for Psychotherapeutic Counsellors.
