Cambridge owes its world-leading excellence in research and teaching to the commitment and generosity of its friends and supporters. Our history is synonymous with a history of enlightened benefaction, and the same is as true in the 21st century as it has ever been.
Today we are delighted to recognise and celebrate the generosity of our supporters in the following ways:
- Membership of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors
- Membership of the Vice-Chancellor's Circle
- Public acknowledgement of gifts through key communications
- Bespoke naming opportunities
- Inclusion in the annual List of Supporters for that year
These forms of recognition respect the wishes of some donors to remain anonymous.
In addition, each College has its own recognition programme and events for supporters.
The Guild of Cambridge Benefactors
The Guild of Cambridge Benefactors honours the generosity of major benefactors to the University and the Colleges.
The names of individuals, companies, foundations and trusts that have been welcomed as Companions of The Guild since its inaugural ceremony in 1998 are listed below and are recorded on the Benefactors’ Staircase in Old Schools, the historic heart of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Circle
