UCS Interruptions


Sun 6th Sept: Telephone System Maintenance

On the evening of Sunday 6th September, we will be performing some minor maintenance to the phone system. This will result in some phones rebooting but should not otherwise cause any disruption.


Thurs 2 Sept, 11:00 - 13:00: Service notice: DNS server restart

Extent: central DNS services Impact: brief interruptions to service We will be restarting the DNS servers to deploy a security patch.


Notification of service downtime: VPN and Managed VPN services, 8.00 to 9.00 am, 8/9/2015

Please be aware that the VPN and Managed VPN services will be subject to interruptions on the morning of Tuesday 8th September between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m. This is due to essential maintenance on the VPN infrastructure. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.


ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk will be unavailable from 17:45-18:00 on Monday 24th August

ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk will be rebooted following necessary software updates on Monday August 24th.


Unplanned loss of MWS service 09:00 - 09:46 today

Some sites hosted on the Managed Web Service were unavailable until 09:46 this morning, 18th August. We believe that the service is now operating normally.


Desktop Services will be unavailable from 07:30 - 09:00 on Thursday 13th August 2015

Desktop Services will be unavailable from 07:30 - 09:00 on Thursday 13th August due to routine maintenance and application of Windows patches. Services affected: - All MCS machines - MCS/DS users' home directories - Personal, group and society webpages - Group file space (UX) - Dsfiles.ds.cam.ac.uk


Central Services interruptions 7-9am 18+20 August 2015

The UIS (Academic and Infrastructure) central services network will be upgraded between 7 and 9am on the mornings of Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th August 2015. This will result in interruptions to access to most central services including DNS, Raven, Hermes, Falcon sites, MCS and the University Wireless system.
