Biography:

Prof Mark Warner is one of the founders of the field of liquid crystal elastomers, which has yielded many exotic phenomena that are now confirmed experimentally. A flavour of some of these is given below as background to the proposed projects. For this he received a Maxwell Medal and Prize and a von Humboldt Research Prize. In 2003 Prof Warner was awarded the Agilent Technology Prize by the European Physical Society.

Research Interests

My principal area of research is in Liquid Crystal Elastomers.
