Biography:

Born in Germany in 1973, Jochen Guck started his Physics training at the University of Würzburg, before he moved to the USA (MA and PhD in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin). He then led a research group at the University of Leipzig, Germany. Recently he accepted a Lecturer position at the Cambridge Physics Department. He is part of the Sector for Biological and Soft Systems and involved in the Physics of Medicine initiative.

Curriculum Vitae

Research Interests

My research centers on exploring the global physical properties of biological cells and tissues and their importance for the cells' function and behavior. We also develop novel photonic tools for the study of their optical and mechanical properties. The ultimate goal is to gain further insight into biological systems and to utilize this insight for novel diagnostic and therapeutic medial approaches.
