Mission Statement Founded in 1956, the NRAO provides state-of-the-art radio telescope facilities for use by the international scientific community enabling forefront research into the Universe at radio wavelengths. In partnership with the scientific community, we also train the next generation of scientists and engineers, and promote astronomy to foster a more scientifically literate society.
