What did you get under the tree? (or give?)
details
No matter what holiday you celebrate, it's likely that you or someone close to you scored big with a gadget under the tree. It could be grand as a trip to space on Virgin Galactic, or simple (and slightly frightening) as a Big Hugs Elmo Plush.
Personally, my joy this morning wasn't about what I got -- it was bringing my parents into the Internet-connected TV generation with a Roku 1. They're not at all "techie," but sitting with my Dad for a few minutes with the remote at hand, he got it together... Read more →

Samsung UHD TV F9000

Scarcity of UHD 4K video content
details
UHD broadcast will need time to get up to speed. Little UHD content is yet available, but for Sony's UHD player loaded for its UHD TVs.
However, ApplePro machines now offer UHD, and downloading UHD files from vimeo.com is a way to find free UHD sample clips, some very artistic and decorative. It looks better than upscaling standard HD signals.
It's a bit daunting to find the choicest fre downloadable UHD video clips on vimeo. You get lost searching just for "4K", thousands of files. Instead search... Read more →

Best printer for 4 x 6 photo printing *with* bluetooth?
details
Question: What is the best printer that meets the following specs:
Portable, must be able to run on battery if no power is available (OK - that's a fantasy, but not ALL that important)
  • Prints/utilizes 4" x 6" photo paper
  • Bluetooth connectivity included.
  • Android app *and* iOS app for taking, editing and printing photos directly to printer
  • Will withstand printing HUNDREDS of photos
  • Won't cost a FORTUNE to run [would rather pay more for printer for cheaper operation]
  • ... and yes - I'd love to use a ZINK...

    Awful reviewer
    details
It is clear the review was based on the reviewers disappointment that the Samsung tablet was not a surface tablet. Like to review were I also like the look and feel of the surface two tablets. However the Windows operating system turned me off. I returned the surface two tablet!

Tesla releases firmware update in response to Irvine electrical outlet fire
    details
Earlier today Tesla I received a firmware update to the 5.8 series software (now v1.49.57) that appears to be in response to November's electrical fire in Irvine, which was apparently caused by faulty wiring in the owner's power systems (but not in the Tesla itself).
Really love that Tesla is not only so proactive about finding and fixing these things, but that they had the foresight to build their vehicle systems with the kind of flexibility that allows them to simply issue a patch to can do... Read more →
