Thanks to the generous contribution from Lee family, our hall was named to be “Lee Hysan Hall”. Before the establishment of Lee Hysan Hall, one residential hall –“Old Halls” was being demolished. Lugard Wing was put down since 15th December 1990 while the May and Eliot Wing were closed on 19th June 1992. Old Halls’ warden, Prof Cheng Kai Ming became the first warden in our hall. Also, the first session of hallmates also came from Old Halls. As a result, it inherits some traditions from Old Halls such as “Village” system, Lion Dancing Team, the village name—“Dragon Lane” and the symbol of our hall – “Tiger”. Student Liaison Group was the rudimentary form of the Students’ Association in our hall. 萃希閣 is the 20th cabinet of Students’ Association. Year 2012 is the 20th anniversary of eastablish of Lee Hysan Hall, perhaps we could continue to promote the whole-person development among HKU students.

ABOUT US

Lee Hysan Hall always aims at providing different platforms to complement the education of the University in achieving whole-person development. It is always our belief that hall is more than a place to provide accommodation. It should be a place for our growth, for maximizing our capacity and for learning give-and-take. In order to achieve the aims stated above, we have been providing different platforms like Sports and Cultural teams. We can feel the unity and spirit of our hall in tears and sweat we shed when we are devoted to these teams. Our hall cry--- “Never fall. Beat You All. We are We are Hysan Hall” captures our hall’s spirit and shows our hallmates’ perseverance. To live in Lee Hysan Hall is a valuable chance to ignite your life and passion.

Lee Hysan Hall was founded in 1992. It is one of the residential halls in HKU and is located in Sassoon Road.

Our hall’s ‘village’ system is very unique among 16 halls. We describe the storey we live as ‘village’ (村民) instead of ‘floor’. We call the people living on the same storey ‘villagers’ instead of ‘floormates’. We believe that village is more like a family in which we can develop life-long relationship with our villagers. Through different hall activities and village activities, villagers develop solidarity and sense of belonging to their floor. In our hall, we have 12 villages. 8 of them are mixed villages in which male and female live on the same storey. 2 of them are female villages and 2 of them are male villages.

Single Room


Half of the rooms in each floor are single room.

Double Room


Double room is big enough for two people. Our hallmates could choose their room and roomate. Most of the double room in Hysan are seaview room.

Pantry


You can enjot the widest seaview in the pantry of each floor. We cook, play and chat there, have much fun!

Toilet

There are two toilets in each floor. It includes two shower tubs.

You can use the fax machine at the 2/F study room without charge.

Photocopying Machine

Photocopying machine is located at the G/F of Lee Hysan Hall. Hysanians could send their files from their computers to the machine and get it print with a low price.

BBQ site

This is the 16th floor which is the roof of Lee Hysan Hall. We have BBQ and chat here. You can see very clearly the Disney fireworks from here everynight.

Band Room

Our band team practice and have fun in the band room. The room is well equipped.

Laundry Room

Our hallmate wash there clothes here. A few smartcard washing machines will be installed in coming year.

7-eleven

The convenient shop is located at the side entrance of Lee Hysan Hall.

Bayview Restarurant

Bayview restaurant provides catering to residents in Sassoon Road. It is located at the basemen of Lee Hysan Hall.

Sport is an indispensable element in Lee Hysan Hall. We are committed to striving for excellence in every inter-hall competition. "Strive for the best" (搏盡) is always a motto of every sports player in our hall. We are dedicated and devoted to every practice so as to fight for the glory of Lee Hysan Hall.

In the Registration Day, you would visit your Faculty and do all kinds of registration. Then, you could visit all the Sports and Independent Clubs. Afterall, you could visit different halls booth at Run Run Shaw Podium. If you are interested in knowing more about us, you could come to Hysan's booth and our hallmates will bring you to an enjoyable hall tour.
