The Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LSC) is a research group based at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, specialising in the development of numerical and computational methods for the simulation of physics problems, and their application to diverse dynamical systems of academic or industrial interest.

Previously known as the Laboratory for Computational Dynamics (LCD), the group was formed in 2000 at the University's Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and transferred to the Department of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory in 2009.

Although LSC's expertise relies mainly on numerical approaches, experimental and analytical results complement most of the projects. The nature of the research at LSC is essentially multidisciplinary, involving a physical science (such as fluid mechanics and chemistry), many aspects of applied and pure mathematics (such as theory of partial differential equations and numerical analysis) and computer science.

The combined analytical, experimental and numerical methodology and the multidisciplinary nature of our research fosters close collaboration with researchers from other academic departments and the industrial community.
