Since the very beginning the VivaCell brand shined in Armenia with a clearly defined scope: to bring the world to Armenia and Armenia to the world. That was the commitment and the Company strives to achieve this every single day with state of the art services, features and products - all of which are offered by a newly co-branded VivaCell-MTS to the Armenian society.

Our young and dynamic company outperformed and distinguished itself through an exceptional brand. The first call made within the VivaCell-MTS network was on July 1, 2005, which marked the beginning of a new era in the mobile communications sector of Armenia. In a short period of time, VivaCell-MTS made a large impact by offering GSM services to every Armenian household. Cost efficiency, high performance and wide solid coverage across the country rapidly made the Company the talk of the town.

VivaCell-MTS spearheaded the development of the telecommunication sector in Armenia, and offered innovative mobile voice and data products and services, and tailored solutions for different market segments. Furthermore, excellent network coverage has always been the competitive advantage of VivaCell-MTS which has managed to roll-out and build a radio network in the entire country within a short period of time. Simultaneously, our company managed to build an extensive network of service centers across Armenia with the objective to come as close as possible to its subscribers. Our network provides a capacity to serve over 2.5 million subscribers.

On April 17, 2009, VivaCell-MTS announced  the commercial launch of its state of the art 3G network. In the 3G network, the subscribers will be able to use all services currently available in VivaCell-MTS 2.5G network, as well as benefit from such innovative services as "Videocall" and high-speed mobile internet. In Armenia converged 2G/3.5G network was built using existing sites for mobile masts without termination or significant reconfiguration of GSM, a 2nd generation network.

VivaCell-MTS introduced a new perception for the mobile communication, which is no more a service restricted to few, but a service available to everyone. VivaCell-MTS has become the choice of remote mountainous villagers, housewives, youth, middle-class as well as traveling business people. Owing to the cooperation with roaming partner operators abroad, VivaCell-MTS is now adamant to keep Armenians in touch with their homeland wherever they may be.

Additionally, VivaCell-MTS has managed to establish a substantial customer base, serving over 2 million subscribers, or in other words, more than 80% of the market share. All this was due to the dedication and devotion of more than 1200 highly professional staff – VivaCell-MTS' most important asset. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility and belonging towards the Armenian society, VivaCell-MTS set the track for a solid partnership between a corporate entity and the society, with which it coexists due to the belief that we share with it the benefits of our investment. On September 14, 2007, as a result of acquiring 80% of market shares, the Company became the subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), one of the world’s largest multinational mobile operators. This will provide and added value to its customers in terms of more cost-efficient state-of-the-art mobile communication solutions where Armenia becomes much more integrated in the global communication network.
