As an undergraduate in the natural and social sciences, you will have the opportunity to participate in intensive research programs during the academic year and over the summer, receiving individual instruction directly from faculty mentors. You can gain valuable experience in research methods using state-of-the-art instrumentation in modern facilities. The research you conduct will help prepare you for a career path and provide excellent training for graduate and medical school.

There will also be oportunities for you to be a co-author on peer-reviewed publications and to present results at local, regional, and national professional meetings. Santa Clara University faculty receives numerous grants to support undergraduate research, including awards from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Research Corporation, and the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation.

Undergraduate Research Centers Workshop

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is sponsoring a workshop on the implementation of the Undergraduate Research Center (URC) program. SCU will be involved in facilitating the development of the NSF-URC program, which will include exploring ways to further improve implementation.
