(9/29/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Christina Aguilera's holiday album My Kind Of Christmas will be released on October 24. The album includes her cover of "Climb Every Mountain," the song that singing nanny Maria (Julie Andrews) made famous in the 1965 film The Sound Of Music. While to some it may seem like an odd song to put on a holiday album, Aguilera recently explained to LAUNCH why The Sound Of Music has special sentimental value to her."My favorite movie happens to be a musical," she said. "I started out singing with The Sound Of Music, so maybe one day I'll play Julie Andrews or something on Broadway. It would be really, really fun for me. That movie is really special to me."

Aguilera told LAUNCH that My Kind Of Christmas really offers something for everybody. "I'm feeling a lot of these songs," she said. "There are a lot of great ballads on this record, and a lot of classic ones, of course. We're actually doing 'Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire,' '(Have Yourself A) Merry Little Christmas,' 'Silent Night'--which also will be done in Spanish as well on certain verses--and then exploring certain R&B; elements to Christmas-driven songs."

The R&B; elements Aguilera refers to are most evident on the album's alternate version of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting...)," which is an up-tempo Thunderpuss remix. Other tracks on the album include "This Christmas," "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Christmas Time," "This Year," "These Are Special Times," "Merry Christmas Baby" (featuring New Orleans piano man Dr. John), and "O Holy Night." Aguilera is currently in the midst of her U.S. tour, which stops tonight (September 29) at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in the Woodlands, Texas.
