Authors
Authors are free to to use their articles for any purpose after they appear in Linux Journal (please see further guidelines below). If an author's article documents how to use a free software program, we encourage them to contribute it to the project under a free software license, so it can be distributed with the software they discussed.
If an article appears in print or both in print and on the Linux Journal Web site, authors are free to use it for other purposes beginning the first day of the month after the cover date of the issue in which it appears. For example, if an author's article appears in the May 2010 issue, they can use it for other purposes starting on June 1, 2010.
If an author's article appears on our Web site only and not in print, the author can use it for other purposes one month after it first appears on our site.
Authors can not use their article for other publications or for their Web site while it is in the publication queue, in the current issue of Linux Journal, or before the appropriate time specified above.
Readers
Readers are encouraged to link to articles on the Linux Journal Web site. Displaying a paragraph or two of the original article on your personal Web site and then linking/directing your readers to the complete article on the Linux Journal Web site is acceptable practice. Additionally, aggregating material from our RSS feed(s) on to your site is always also allowed.
