1968 saw the a change in the cars which qualified for the championship. Apart from group 1 and group 2 cars, group 5 cars were now allowed. These cars could be modified further than the group 2 rules had allowed. Fuel injection and supercharging was now allowed. In Britain, things were even more liberal, like the FVA-engined Cortina's which were not legal for ETCC use.
Division 1 was for cars from 0-1000 cc, division 2 1001-1600 cc, and division 3 for over 1600 cc.
