United States Embassy donates equipment to Special Victims Unit

February 20, 2008 – The United States Embassy, through its Narcotics Affairs Section (NAS), donated today one motorcycle, four PCs, a laptop, a multimedia projector, three digital cameras, three audio recorders, two video camcorders, medical equipment and office supplies to the Special Victims Unit in support of this unit’s efforts against trafficking in persons as well as against sexual abuse and physical and psychological violence crimes. Five U.S. congressmen continue their second day of their visit in Bolivia

La Paz, February 19, 2008 – The high level United States Congress delegation that is visiting Bolivia February 18-20, as part of their tour of the region, will continue their visits in the country starting with a tour of one factory that benefits from the trade preferences granted by the United States under the ATPDEA, to then hold a meeting with leaders from the nine departments in the City of Santa Cruz. On Monday, February 11, 2008, United States Ambassador to Bolivia Philip S. Goldberg delivered relief assistance to the flood victims in Trinidad. The cargo plane coming from Miami was loaded with emergency tents, water containers, and personal hygiene equipment donated by the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA). (more...)

February 6, 2008 - Within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the prefect’s Office of the Department of Potosí and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), a new electrification system for ten communities will be delivered in Tomoyo canton, Province of Chayanta, Municipality of Ravelo, Potosí. This project’s cost is estimated at $500,000, of which 50% was provided by the Prefect’s Office while the other 50% was donated by the United States Government through the USDA. (more in Spanish…)
