The LSE SU is the Students' Union for all LSE students and exists exclusively to advance the interests, welfare and social life of our membership. Through our bars, commercial services, Athletics Union, Media Group, Advice Centre, welfare support and the activities of our Officers, we aim to serve and support the 8,000 students at LSE. We are solidly committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity in representing the interests of all LSE students.
This Thursday at 1pm in the Old Theatre is the first Union General Meeting (UGM) of the year and with it your chance to change the way things are done in the LSE Students' Union, the School and beyond!
The meeting is totally unique to LSE because it is the only weekly meeting left anywhere in the country in which any student can attend, speak, propose and amend motions, hold elected officers to account and vote on matters regarding their Students' Union and the outside world. It's also a great spectator sport to watch!
You should always be free at 1pm on Thursdays so there's no excuse for not trying the UGM at least once - there's bound to be something you'd like to change and the UGM is the place to do it. Find out more about the UGM at
www.lsesu.com/main/representation/ugm.
In light of the massive earthquake that has tragically affected large parts of Northern Pakistan and India and could have killed as many as 20 000 people, the Pakistan and Islamic Society have begun collecting money for the aid relief.
From Monday to Thursday this week between 12 and 3 pm, volunteers from the societies will be setting up charity stalls on Houghton Street to collect loose change for the relief efforts.
By the end of the day on Wednesday 12th, almost 4,000 had been collected, but with more volunteers, more could be raised. If you would like to volunteer, please find the stall on Houghton Street and offer your services. Similarly, to donate, look our for the collection buckets on Houghton Street.

The Students' Union has copies of our International Students Handbook, Women's Handbook and Students With Disabilities Handbook and are eager for them to reach the students they are intended for.
We gave away hundreds of copies at the Freshers Fair, but if you missed them, copies are still available from Students' Union Reception (ground floor, East Building).

To comply with the law, the Students' Union will be required to the check proof of age documents or everyone entering Students Union events, such as Freshers Parties and Crush. Accepted identifcation will include passports and driving licenses.
But if you don't want to take these out with you, the Portman Group ID cards can offer an alternative form of accecepted ID. The Students' Union has secured a discount for students and will be offering them from Students' Union Reception (ground floor, East Building). Take a form and return it, and we'll post it off for you and notify you, when your card arrives.
