Twitter reacts to Patriots' blowout win, Drake Maye MVP performance
The New England Patriots didn't blink when staring down a Cleveland Browns team that ranked No. 1 in total defense on Sunday. Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett created enough chaos for an upset, but Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was never rattled to allow it to happen.
Even after being sacked five times by Garrett, Maye stood strong in the pocket and delivered an MVP performance against the Browns' defense by finishing 18-of-24 passing for 282 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
His best play of the game came on a 39-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Kayshon Boutte that took the top off the defense. If anything, it was a prove-it performance for all of the naysayers claiming the Patriots haven't faced top-tier defenses.
Despite going head-to-head with Garrett and the Browns, Maye was the same dual-threat playmaker he's been all season. He also rushed the ball seven times for 50 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Patriots completely dominated the Browns by forcing two interceptions and holding the rushing attack to only 68 total yards. Here's what people were saying after the Patriots' 32-13 win over the Browns:
