  • The Chargers are dealing with a slew of injuries.

  • Rookie running back Omarion Hampton was placed on injured reserve.

  • In light of his injury, a familiar face was signed to the active roster in Kimani Vidal, who could play a huge role in the running game.

The Los Angeles Chargers got out to a blazing-hot start this season, jumping out to a 3-0 record, but injuries have completely halted their momentum.

Star offensive tackle Rashawn Slater went down for the season with a torn patellar in training camp — and now their other tackle, Joe Alt, is also hurt.

He is set to return this season, but the injuries don’t end there as the team lost running back Najee Harris for the season with a torn Achilles, and now their first-round draft pick Omarion Hampton is also injured.

The Chargers placed their electric running back on injured reserve, so now they will need some reinforcements in the backfield.

Los Angeles announced on Wednesday that they would be elevating exciting rusher Kimani Vidal to the active roster.

Vidal got some run with the team last season and provided a solid spark in the limited snaps he was given. The team also signed former Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines to the practice squad and later elevated him to the active roster.

It remains to be seen who will be the starter, but one would imagine Vidal would earn that role as he has two years of experience in this offense.

The injury to Hampton comes at a terrible time for the Chargers as they have dropped their last two games and need as much help on offense as they can get right now.

Quarterback Justin Herbert has been doing all he can to keep the team afloat until they can get some offensive pieces back. It hasn’t quite worked out yet, but the team will rely on Vidal to give them a bit of a spark as they try to right the ship.
