Football 301 with Nate Tice

This show is great and exactly what I was looking for: a deeper look at the NFL that teaches me things I’d never get from a daytime ESPN show. Nate, Charles, and Matt break down scheme and cover every position (not just skill players). They especially love talking about the line, and their enthusiasm is infectious—I’ve really enjoyed learning from them. They also do a great job of explaining things for everyday fans, which is helpful because while I’ve watched the NFL my whole life, I’ve never played football. Listening to this podcast helps me understand more about the sport and the deeper strengths and weaknesses of each team. Question: Teams with great run games and offensive lines can slowly suffocate opponents by burning clock when they have a lead—most head-to-head games between top-tier teams seem to end this way. That’s fun in its own way, but part of competition is finding a way for the team trapped in the snake’s stranglehold (Eagles, Lions, Chiefs, etc.) to break free and keep things interesting. What wild rule change ideas do you have that would give those trailing teams a better shot at making a defensive stop and mounting a comeback? I’ll get the ball rolling. Rollover timeouts.

Nate does a great job breaking down schemes and matchups. Really interesting to hear all of their insight especially if you’re wanting to learn more about the details of football.

Learn something and have fun. Charles is a great analyst and Nate has a great dynamic with him. Harmon is overextended by Yahoo but he is best here.

Smart football talk. The hosts seem knowledgeable and offer informs insight. Matt Harmon is great but—- he might want to woo on his “like” tick which he says every third word. It’s distracting but overall I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for intelligent conversation.
