In a since-deleted tweet, SZA suggested that her label is holding up the release of her new music, as HotNewHipHop notes. SZA recently tweeted and deleted, âAt this point yâall gotta ask punch,â referring to Terrence âPunchâ Henderson, who is president of Top Dawg Entertainment. âIâve done all I can do.â
Someone responded to SZAâs tweet, asking, âWould you saaay this is an adverse or hostile relationship orrr just out of your hands = you donât know.â SZA replied, âBEEN hostile.â In another tweet, SZA indicated that âall [Punch] says to herâ about releasing new music is âsoon.â
On his own Twitter, Punch obliquely denied holding up the release of SZAâs music. In one instance, he replied to someone who accused him of not âlet[ting] an artist release her own music,â by tweeting, âyouâre 100% wrong.â
SZA released her debut album Ctrl in June 2017 via Top Dawg Entertainment and RCA Records. Months before the recordâs release, in October 2016, SZA tweeted and deleted, âI actually quit. @iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it. Yâall be blessed.â
Pitchfork has reached out to SZAâs label representative for comment.
