Since emerging in 2010 on YG’s “Toot It and Boot It,” Ty Dolla $ign has established himself as an R&B Renaissance man: Between his solo smashes, guest spots on hits by Megan Thee Stallion and Post Malone, countless songwriting credits, and two collaborative albums with Ye, he’s had a hand in some of the biggest rap and R&B releases of the past 15 years. His fourth solo full-length—and his first since 2020’s Featuring Ty Dolla $ign—recruits a star-studded guest list to restore that classic Dolla $ign feeling: lusty lyrics, old-school passion, West Coast bounce. He samples Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go” on “ALL IN,” taps in with a few old friends (DJ Mustard on “WHAT I WANT,” YG on “SMILE BODY PRETTY FACE”), and on “TYCOON$,” an ode to alligator shoes and pink diamonds featuring Young Thug and Lil Baby, he allows E-40 to extemporize on the title’s meaning: “A tycoon liable to set up shop on the moon/Explorer like Daniel Boone/The big elephant in the room.”
