What began as a Johannesburg record store at the peak the of the vinyl era expanded into the epicentre of house music culture. Like-minded DJs would converge at Soul Candi’s Corlett Drive headquarters to pick up the best in house. As the scene grew, so did the business, and Soul Candi Records produced the country’s most critically acclaimed and sought-after DJ mixes and compilations—allowing everyone the chance to discover their new favourite house tracks. The brand became a launchpad for some of South Africa’s biggest names, including Mi Casa, Crazy White Boy, Euphonik, DJ Fresh and more. Soul Candi’s new-for-2022 era sees it evolve into an all-encompassing media outlet, reigniting its mission to share the best house music the world has to offer—while making its extensive catalogue available for a whole new generation.
