Nigerian dancehall artist Mightyyout may still be emerging but his Mighty Yard EP carries the assurance of someone very much at home in his sound. The project’s charm lies in mood. Be that the earnest plea of “Please”, the R&B-tinged sway of “I Know” (featuring label boss and Afrobeats icon Davido) or the stamp of approval from dancehall heavyweight Popcaan on “Ibadi”, each track serves to extend the album’s calming yet celebratory energy.
