Board of Trustees
The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees guides the Foundation's work. The Board provides oversight and consults on strategy for the Foundation, working with leadership on long-term goals and pathways toward achieving those goals.
The Board is made up of trustees selected by the Wikimedia communities and trustees appointed for their subject matter expertise.
The Board was formed in 2003 with three Trustees, and since 2020 consists of up to 16 Trustees. The current membership composition of the Board is one founder seat, five appointed seats, and six seats selected by Wikimedia communities and affiliates. View the current membership of the Board.
