Reflections from the 2025 North American Agroforestry Conference

Participating journal: Agroforestry Systems
This Collection will include a selection of papers presented at the 2025 North American Agroforestry Conference (Columbia, MO, United States, 23–25 July 2025). It will feature the latest research addressing key dimensions of temperate agroforestry in North America, including biophysical processes in temperate agroforestry systems, socioeconomic factors, and emerging developments in nutrition, medicinal uses, and human health applications of temperate tree crops. Temperate agroforestry systems in North America face unique biophysical and socioeconomic conditions. Variability in seasons, soil types, precipitation patterns, market and incentive structures, and distinct policy environments influence the adoption of agroforestry. Addressing these challenges and highlighting opportunities through research can better inform landowner decisions and support appropriate policy development. This Collection will provide valuable knowledge to researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working to promote resilient, multifunctional landscapes across North America.
