Dieses Buch gibt einen Überblick über den heutigen Stand der neoklassischen Wachstumstheorie. Die Darstellung beginnt mit den stilisierten Fakten des Wachstums, einer kurzen Dogmengeschichte und einem Hinweis auf die methodischen Besonderheiten des neoklassischen Ansatzes. Danach wird das Grundmodell der neoklassischen Wachstumstheorie entwickelt, in dem die Sparquote und die Wachstumsrate des technischen Fortschritts exogene Parameter sind. Es folgen die Wachstumsmodelle mit endogen bestimmter Sparquote. Schließlich werden die vier wichtigsten Grundmodelle der "neuen" Wachstumstheorie betrachtet, in denen auch die Fortschrittsrate modellendogen bestimmt wird. Die formale Analyse wird durch zahlreiche Simulationsrechnungen ergänzt.
