If your volume is distorted, before going through the adjustments you should try to eject any water from the speaker

How to use Water Lock and eject water from your Apple Watch – Apple Support

Make sure the speaker hole/slit is not blocked with dirt. You can rinse it gently under running water then eject water again.

There are at least three categories of Apple Watch sound where you can adjust volume.

  1. For Siri voice including workout feedback it's Watch Settings, Siri, Siri Responses, go to Voice Volume - Speaker and adjust slider to required level by tapping, or tap slider and rotate digital crown. Siri volume can also be adjusted in iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Siri, Siri Responses.
  2. For volume of caller's voice on a call using the watch, rotate the crown during a live call. No other way of doing it.
  3. For most other volume including notifications and alarms use Watch Settings, Sounds & Haptics and adjust the slider by tapping, or tap slider and rotate digital crown. Notification volume can also be adjusted in iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Sounds & Haptics.

New in OS26: On some models you can automatically adjust notification volumes

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Under Automatically Adjust Volume, tap Level.
  4. Tap Louder to increase the overall volume of alerts.

The Automatically Adjust Volume feature changes the volume of alerts based on your surroundings. If you want your Apple Watch to deliver all alerts at the same sound level, you can turn it off.
