Terror Squad’s attack on Billboard’s singles charts continues as the group’s “Lean Back” again staves off No. 1 contenders. The track tops the Hot 100 for a third week, and remains No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Hot Rap Tracks, Hot 100 Airplay and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts.
The single’s success persists despite the continuing tumble of the East Coast rap act’s sophomore effort, “True Story,” on The Billboard 200. The Universal set slips 31-39 in its fourth week on the list; the album has sold 200,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Threats to the dominance of “Lean Back” persist, as cuts by Lil’ Flip, Ciara, Nelly and Kevin Lyttle are vying for their shot at the top in the waning weeks of the summer.
Lil’ Flip’s “Sunshine” featuring Lea is No. 2 for the second week in a row on both the Hot 100 and Hot 100 Airplay charts. Ciara’s “Goodies” featuring Petey Pablo, the Hot 100’s greatest airplay gainer, remains right behind at No. 3, and overtakes “Lean Back” on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 chart, where it is the new No. 1.
Nelly’s “My Place” featuring Jaheim makes a 7-4 Hot 100 move, while Lyttle’s “Turn Me On” featuring Spragga Benz is steady at No. 5 for a second week. Juvenile’s “Slow Motion” featuring Soulja Slim falls 4-6, while Christina Milian’s “Dip It Low” drops 6-7.
The rest of the top 10 gains one as Ashlee Simpson’s debut single, “Pieces of Me,” settles in at No. 8; Nina Sky’s “Move Ya Body” featuring Jabba climbs to No. 9; and Alicia Keys sneaks back into the top tier with “If I Ain’t Got You” at No. 10.
LL Cool J’s “Headsprung” is the Hot 100’s fastest-growing track at retail and makes a 27-19 move. Mase’s “Breathe, Stretch, Shake” featuring P. Diddy also makes a notable 13-slot gain, resting at No. 51.
The chart’s top debut is Seether’s “Broken” featuring Evanescence’s Amy Lee at No. 58. Also bowing on the Hot 100 are Nelly’s “Flap Your Wings” (No. 63), Phil Vassar’s “In Real Love” (No. 71), Anthony Hamilton’s “Charlene” (No. 72), the Killers’ “Somebody Told Me” (No. 85), Beenie Man’s “King of the Dancehall” (No. 95), Dem Franchize Boyz’ “White Tee’s” (No. 96) and Mynt’s “How Did You Know?” featuring Kim Sozzi (No. 97).
As Tim McGraw’s latest Curb album arrives in stores, its title track, “Live Like You Were Dying,” sits atop Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart for the seventh week.
Three Days Grace’s “Just Like You” continues its run on top of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for the third week in a row, with Breaking Benjamin’s “So Cold” hot on its tail with a 3-2 move. Meanwhile, Linkin Park’s “Breaking the Habit” logs a second week atop the Modern Rock Tracks tally.
