With her album debut, “Goodies” (Sho’nuff/Music Line/LaFace), hitting stores this week, Ciara is nestled into the top slot of the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth straight week with the title track featuring Petey Pablo. The song also logs its fifth week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Airplay and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts, and its sixth atop the Rhythmic Airplay list.
This could be the end of Ciara’s reign, however, as the Alicia Keys and Usher duet, “My Boo,” rockets 5-2 as the Hot 100 Greatest Gainer at radio for its third, non-consecutive week. Keys also manages to hold onto her other top 10 this week, as “Diary” featuring Tony! Toni! Tone! slips 8-10.
After a month at No. 2, Terror Squad’s “Lean Back” drops to No. 3, though it holds at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart for the ninth week. Nelly seems to have found a home at No. 4 with “My Place” featuring Jaheim, which stays in the slot for the sixth consecutive week.
Lil’ Flip’s “Sunshine” featuring Lea drops 3-5, while Maroon5’s “She Will Be Loved” is No. 6 for the second week. Destiny‘s Child’s latest single, “Lose My Breath,” moves into the top tier on a 12-7 gain, Akon’s “Locked Up” featuring Styles P. jumps 10-8 and Avril Lavigne is No. 9 for the second week with “My Happy Ending.”
The Hot 100’s top debut is Eminem’s “Just Lose It” at No. 17. With 52 million listener impressions, this is the highest-debuting airplay-only track of the year. It’s the first single from the rapper’s fourth studio set for Interscope, “Encore,” due Nov. 16. Eminem’s most recent full-length, “The Eminem Show,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2002 and yielded the hit singles “Without Me” (which peaked at No. 2) and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” (No. 4).
Two other singles from highly anticipated fourth-quarter releases also enter the Hot 100 this week, as U2’s “Vertigo” bows at No. 46 and Chingy’s “Balla Baby” comes in at No. 67. Also debuting are Jo Jo’s “Baby It’s You” featuring Bow Wow (No. 70), Rupee’s “Tempted to Touch” (No. 96) and Christina Milian’s “Whatever U Want” featuring Joe Budden (No. 100).
Scoring the chart’s fastest-growing track at retail is Nitty’s “Nasty Girl,” which moves up two spots to No. 87. Also making notable gains up the Hot 100 are Juvenile, Wacko & Skip’s “Nolia Clap” (42-31), Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” featuring Pharrell (51-40) and Lil Wayne’s “Go D.J.” (71-51).
As Green Day’s “American Idiot” (Reprise) opens at No. 1 this week on The Billboard 200, the title track enjoys its third week atop the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks tally. Velvet Revolver’s “Fall to Pieces” spends a second week at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks list.
Keith Urban’s “Days Go By” remains in the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks, as his latest Capitol Nashville effort, “Be Here,” debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 3 on The Billboard 200.
