Snoop Dogg remains too hot to drop from the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 as his single “Drop It Like It’s Hot” featuring Pharrell tallies a third week at No. 1. The cut stems from Snoop’s latest album, “R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece” (Doggystyle/Geffen), which debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and is No. 25 in its fourth week on that chart.
Creeping closer to the top of the Hot 100 is Mario’s “Let Me Love You,” which advances 3-2, a career high mark for the artist on the list. The cut is also on Snoop’s heels at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart for a second week. Mario’s sophomore album, “Turning Point” (3rd Street/J), posts a No. 13 debut this week on The Billboard 200.
Ciara’s “1, 2 Step” featuring Missy Elliott climbs 5-3 on the Hot 100, hopping over the former No. 1 duet from Usher and Alicia Keys, “My Boo,” which slips two places to No. 4. Nelly’s “Over and Over” featuring Tim McGraw falls 4-5, but remains No. 1 for the eighth week on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart.
Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’ “Lovers and Friends” featuring Usher and Ludacris continues its upward stride with a 7-6 move. It’s the second hit for these collaborators, who enjoyed a 12-week stint at No. 1 with Usher’s “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris earlier this year. The ubiquitous Lil Jon also joins the YoungBloodz in a featured appearance on Nivea’s “Okay,” which debuts at No. 95 this week.
With a 10-7 burst, Destiny‘s Child’s “Soldier” featuring T.I. and Lil Wayne passes the trio’s “Lose My Breath,” which slides 6-9. “Soldier” is the Hot 100’s greatest airplay gainer this week, while Keyshia Cole’s “I Changed My Mind” featuring Shyne is the greatest retail gainer and moves 84-82.
Ja Rule’s “Wonderful” featuring R. Kelly and Ashanti remains at No. 8 for the second week, while Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway” rounds out the top tier with a 11-10 gain. Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” also sees a 70-53 boost this week.
Despite a slide to No. 9 by last week’s Billboard 200 chart-topper, “MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents Jay-Z/Linkin Park: Collision Course” (Warner Bros./Roc-A-Fella), the set’s first single, “Numb/Encore,” makes a significant Hot 100 gain, jumping 53-37.
50 Cent boasts three singles in the top 30 this week, led by his own “Disco Inferno,” which shoots 27-13. The rapper is also a featured guest artist on the Game’s “How We Do It” (32-23) and Eminem’s “Encore” (34-26).
The Hot 100’s top debut is “Some Cut” featuring Cutty at No. 70, by Warner Bros. act Trillville. Also debuting this week are Gwen Stefani’s “Rich Girl” featuring Eve at No. 74 and Monchy & Alexandra’s “Perdidos” at No. 96.
Blake Shelton earns his third No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks with “Some Beach.” The one-position move by the second single from his Warner Bros. Nashville set, “Blake Shelton’s Barn & Grill,” ends the one-week reign of Tim McGraw’s “Back When,” which drops to No. 2.
Chevelle starts a second week in the top slot of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks list with “Vitamin R (Leading Us Along),” while Green Day notches a third week atop the Modern Rock Tracks tally with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”
