What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a family of talking therapies, all based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, what we do, and how our bodies feel, are all connected. If we change one of these we can alter all the others.
When we’re low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behavioral patterns so we can feel better.

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Accreditations
Accreditation means that a CBT therapist has both core professional mental health training or recognised equivalent, as well as specific CBT training.

Wellbeing Registrations
Wellbeing Practitioners on our register are committed to maintaining high quality standards in clinical practice, supervision, and continuing professional development, and to adhering to our Standards of Conduct, Performance, and Ethics.

Careers and Jobs in CBT
Qualified CBT therapists can work in a number of settings and may progress to other areas of work as their career develops. You don’t have to be accredited with us, however, for many employers accreditation is required for job applications.

Course Accreditation
There are two levels at which BABCP accredits courses providing CBT training: Graduates of Level 1 courses will have met most of the Minimum Training Standards (MTS) whereas Graduates of Level 2 courses will have met all of the MTS.
