After bringing the Mother’s Day audience to its feet with “I’m Every Woman” — somewhere out there was Khan’s own 91-year-old mom, she said — she started to make for the exit when her band revved up the throbbing synth lick from “Ain’t Nobody.”

To his ears, the synth lick in the title track echoes Dire Straits, while the chiming “Nostalgia’s Lie” recalls the Byrds or the La’s.

“Drop” opens up with bare-bones looped beatboxing before threading in dramatic melody upon layers of synth and howled refrains.

On the soundtrack, you feature harp music, which is very appropriate for some scenes, but you also use anachronistic synth on the soundtrack to give the film a real vibe.

And there, like an old friend, is Cronenberg’s regular composer Howard Shore with a synth moan to keep the mood unnerving.
