Our Vision
Healthy and thriving communities where everyone receives exceptional primary care.
What We Do
- Serves as the leading national advocacy organization in support of Community Health Centers and the expansion of health care access for the medically underserved and uninsured.
- Conducts analysis that informs both the public and private sectors about the work of health centers, their value to the American health care system and the overall health of the nation’s people and communities – both in terms of costs and health care outcomes.
- Provides training, leadership development and technical assistance to health center staff and boards to support and strengthen health center operations and governance.
- Develops alliances and partnerships with the public and private sectors to build stronger and healthier communities and bring greater resources to and investment in community health centers.
NACHC also works closely with chartered State and Regional Primary Care Associations (PCAs) to fulfill their shared health care mission and support the growth and development of community-based health center programs.
NACHC’s Values
Health for ALL: CHCs serve all people in their community.
Patient-Led: CHCs are governed by volunteer Boards, of which 51% are patients.
Accessible: CHCs make it easy for patients to access care in their local community, removing barriers to receive care and manage treatment plans.
Patient-Centered: CHCs tailor care to the needs of each individual.
Innovative: CHCs find new ways to deliver value to their patients, adapting to deliver better health outcomes with lower costs.
Quality: CHCs deliver high-quality care, measured by patient satisfaction and provider experience, efficiency, and excellent health outcomes.
Comprehensive: CHCs provide integrated care services including services beyond the medical room that promote the vital conditions of well-being.
Local/Community-Driven: CHCs are accountable to local community needs not corporate agendas, shareholder profits, or national trends.
Affordable: CHCs offer care on an income-adjusted sliding fee scale, so all patients can afford to pay for their health care.
NACHC’s Strategic Framework
Over the course of 2024, the National Association of Community Health Centers began an intentional, facilitated process to solicit bold ideas from, and understand the pressing needs of, our key stakeholders—including Health Centers, Primary Care Associations and Health Center Controlled Networks, movement visionaries, community leaders, issue experts, and NACHC staff and Board members.
That extensive process yielded approximately 1,400 powerful ideas about the future of the health center movement, which have been carefully considered, synthesized, refined, prioritized, and formed into a Strategic Framework intended to position health centers as the employers, providers, and partners of choice.
