2/15 @ 1PM - Sunday Games at Sketchbook Evanston
Join us at Sketchbook Brewing Company in Evanston for our Sunday Board Game Meetup!
We meet most Sundays at Sketchbook. Just look for the group in the back that has stacks of board games to pick from! We welcome people of all skill levels to come and play, as we always teach new games to people that have not played them before.
Feel free to bring your own games that you want to teach and are familiar with. A typical event starts with talking about what we brought that week, and then we break out into smaller groups to play games based on player count and what everyone is interested in. It's common to have 2 or 3 games going at once, and fitting in a second or third game before the event ends at 4pm. Please RSVP and be on time so that we can include you at the start of the first game, and buy a drink to support the venue!

Beers & Board Games at Navigator Taproom
Beers & Board Games Chicago is a regular get-together to celebrate the holy trinity of hops, cardboard & good times. Our organizers bring a variety of games ranging from ridiculous party games to super-thinky strategy games, and will gladly teach the rules to get you up and running (attendees are also welcome to bring their favorites). Enhance your gaming experience by sipping from some of Navigator's 40+ beers using their unique pour-your-own-tap wall!
To any first timers...welcome! Our organizers - and pretty much all our attendees, for that matter - are always happy to get you involved, recommend games, and teach rules. If you're coming late or have to leave early, that's fine; chances are usually good you'll be able to find a game without having to wait too long. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions!
Learn and play board games on Monday nights!
Come play all kinds of board games on Monday nights! Both beginners and experienced gamers are welcome. You're not expected to know any of the games as we're always happy to do teach-and-plays. While the hosts will bring games, we also encourage members to bring any games they'd like to play.
**ATTENDANCE**
You do not have to arrive at 5:30 sharp! People drop in-and-out throughout the Meetup and we often play more than one game a night. For those driving, there is plenty of free parking near the location.
**FOOD & DRINK**
While there is no cover charge or minimum purchase, we do ask that you support the venue by making a purchase when attending. The brewery has a lot of non-alcoholic beverage options for those that do not drink alcohol. You are **allowed to bring outside food** into the brewery as they do not serve food.
Board Game Battle Royale
Play popular party games in teams of up to four people, including games like Scattegories and Bananagrams and compete to win prizes! Bring a group or we will match you with teammates.
Strategy Games at Commonwealth
We play both board and card games that involve some sort of strategy component. Typically these games take 1-2 hours and are 4-5 players. Examples of these include Agricola, Great Western Trail, Tzolk'in, Terra Mystica, Castles of Burgundy, Beyond the Sun, Ark Nova, etc.
If anyone would like to post comments about what games they'd like to play that night/solicit interest from other attendees, great to think ahead. No problem if not though, will bring a bunch of games, and everyone can just figure out what they'd like to play upon arrival. If you don't know games like the ones listed above but are up for learning, there are at least a couple of us available to teach.
Please try to arrive on time! While you're welcome to show up late, if everyone is in a long game, you may be waiting for some time for another game to start.
Trick-taking Thursday at Low Horse in Wicker Park.
Hello gaming friends! Do you like card games? Whether you're into modern trick-taking/shedding games or are a classic card game player, you're welcome to join us most every 1st and 3rd Thursday. Learn a new game or teach us your favorite! Most games we play are in the 30-60 minute range, so we often play several at each event.
Our gaming-friendly bar/lounge, Low Horse, has a selection of modern and classic board games, table games (including Crokinole and Klask), and retro video game systems (NES & SNES) available for your enjoyment! I can attest to the super cool, low key lounge vibe of the space. They have drink specials, you can bring your own food and you can bring your dog!
I'll be bringing some modern trick-taking and card games, such as The Crew, Rebel Princesses, Scout, and Beastro (which I'm super excited to play this week), and elusive Asian imports: Ghost Lift, Deep Sea Mines, Quattro, etc... The owner is also a big Euchre fan! Attendees are welcome to bring their own card games to teach and share!
More about the venue: "Low Horse is tucked away in the Northeast corner of Wicker Park. This cozy haven beckons whiskey enthusiasts and craft beer aficionados alike. Immerse yourself in a curated selection of rare and exquisite whiskeys, while exploring a rotating tap list of innovative brews. Unwind in the inviting ambiance, where knowledgeable bartenders guide you through some excellent drinks."
If you have trouble finding us, just text me at 312-248-4248.
