Lupercalia Festival a Celebration of Purification
**CALLING ALL WITCHES, PAGANS, & FOLLOWERS OF THE OLD WAYS**
Join us for the ancient celebration of Lupercalia (with a modern twist)! Lupercalia is an ancient Roman festival of purification and fertility. The festival is so old that it was believed that even the Romans forgot from where the festival originated and to which gods it was affiliated, although many speculate. Given that Lupercalia falls on February 15, the holiday was often thought to coincide with Valentine’s Day.
Festivities will begin at 7:00pm which will include refreshments, food, and music. We will discuss the historical Lupercalia rites before performing our own ritual. We will model our own ritual off the ancient rites performed to purify ourselves of curses, bad luck, misfortune, and other hardships before encouraging the fertile reawakening of our dormant powers.
There's no charge for this event, but we ask that you buy local and support your local Witch Shop! :)
Guided Buddhist Meditation | Diamond Way Buddhist Center Chicago
The event begins with a short introductory talk on Buddhism. This is followed by a guided Vajrayana Buddhist meditation. The meditation generally lasts \~20 minutes, and it is accessible and beneficial to people of all experience levels. You are welcome to stay afterwards to ask any questions or talk further.
We will have meditation cushions available, but you are welcome to bring your own if you like. Chairs can also be made available for those who need.
What Is Buddhist Meditation?
In Buddhism, meditation means "effortlessly remaining in what is". This state may be brought about by calming and holding the mind, when compassion and wisdom are realized, or by working with our bodies' energy channels and meditating on light forms of Buddhas.
About Us
Diamond Way Buddhist Center Chicago belongs to an international non-profit network of over 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.
Diamond Way Buddhism offers practical and effective methods to realize mind’s inherent richness for the benefit of all. With an accessible and modern style, it works with people’s confidence and desire, using every situation in life to develop fearlessness and joy. 📖 **About St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church**
Founded in **1910**, **St. Barbara Parish** was established to serve Polish immigrants who settled near Chicago’s booming industrial corridor of rail yards, factories, and stockyards. Named for **St. Barbara**, patron saint of miners and workers in dangerous trades, the parish became a spiritual refuge for laboring families seeking faith, stability, and community.
The current church building, completed in the **1910s**, is a stunning example of the **Polish Cathedral style** — a uniquely American expression of Catholic architecture characterized by monumental scale, classical influences, lavish ornamentation, and an emphasis on beauty as an act of devotion.
Inside, the church is richly adorned with:
* Grand altars
* Painted ceilings and murals
* Sculptural details
* Stained glass honoring saints, sacraments, and Polish religious heritage
Every element was designed to inspire awe, reinforce Catholic teaching, and reflect the pride and sacrifice of the immigrant community that built it.
For generations, St. Barbara served as a cultural, spiritual, and social anchor — hosting baptisms, weddings, funerals, festivals, and daily worship that shaped neighborhood life. As demographics evolved, the parish continued to adapt while preserving its extraordinary artistic and architectural legacy.
Today, St. Barbara remains an active parish and a treasured landmark — one of Chicago’s most impressive examples of early 20th-century Catholic church design.

She is trained in somatics, tantra, neuroscience, and communication, with additional expertise in masculine-feminine energetics and polarity.
Outside of facilitating events in Chicago, she hosts **The Divine Union Podcast**, loves doing Qigong in a random park in the city, studies Kabbalah, and enjoys cozying up in a local coffee shop with a book.

In this advanced ritual, we will be tapping into the magic of the solar eclipse to create a spectral being known as an egregore, which is a spirit born of the combined wills and power of multiple people. This egregore will reside within Malliway Bros as an entity called on for power and guidance in our spells to benefit all who work their magic in the Witches' Conclave.
This ritual is a complicated one and requires collaboration, power, imagination, and diligence. Previous experience in creating servitors, thoughtforms, or working with familiar spirits is preferred.
We will send out the instructions for this ritual to attendees at least a week beforehand to familiarize the circle with the process and discuss details of the spirit before we begin. There will be some volunteer positions in this spell which we would ask to be memorized rather than read off paper during the ritual.
Chances to volunteer for these roles will be given through email.

Mercury slipped into retrograde again. This will happen three to four times a year and can cause many of Mercury's virtues to recede on us. This can cause miscommunications, confusion, technological mishaps, travel problems, and more. Our ritual will gather the Witches' Conclave to make a covenant with Mercury to "keep us in its speed" and avoid these effects until it passes.

Mind Over Magick - Making Magick in Everyday Life
Based on Tracy Nicholas' new book *Mind Over Magick,* this class will be a discussion to understand some of the scientific and psychological underpinnings of magick in order for people to strengthen their personal magickal practices. Some of the key concepts will be:
* What IS magick?
* How do we experience magick regularly in our day to day lives already?
* What are the provable scientific principles behind some of our most common magickal practices such as cord cutting and space clearing?
* How can practitioners tie these mundane principles to a more effective magickal practice through ongoing, focused exercises?
* Releasing imposter syndrome through a greater understanding of how magick actually works
* Breaking down the imagined barriers between magick and the mundane. It is an introduction to the book and will explore what magick is, some aspects of magick we can prove today and science and psychology based strategies for strengthening your own magickal practice.
This will be a FREE class and will have time for a Q & A and a meet and green with the author alongside the discussion!
