Board Games
Come and join us for some fun board games! We focus on being social and not on being competitive. We play a variety of games including Azul, Transamerica, Rubbikub, Cryptid and more. Party games and simpler Euro games. Don't worry if you are not familiar with the games, we will teach.
We will be in BACK ROOM near the bathrooms - it is just too cold to use the little room in the front. The room is also bigger so feel free to bring friends and your games.
Please come and have some fun.
American Mah Jongg
Come and play American Mah Jong. This is for players who know how to play - it is **NOT lessons**. Lessons will be offered again in the future.
Stay and Play has a$15 cover charge. They credit $10 of the cover charge toward food and beverage.
We often have a wait list so please update RSVP by Saturday evening so someone else can plan on attending.
We will have 4 - 5 tables playing with extra players rotating in.
Play board games & meet cool people!
Event address - **925 W Diversey Pkwy** ([google maps](https://www.google.com/maps/place/925+W+Diversey+Pkwy,+Chicago,+IL+60614))
**Space & Rules**
* Suggested Donation of $10
* You can join anytime and regardless of registration status (as long as we are under space capacity, 50 people)
We provide games, soft drinks, seltzers, and water. We may not have all the games you are looking for so PLEASE feel free to bring any game(s) you'd like to play and/or drinks (non-alcoholic) and food.
You'll see silly, social party games, European economic simulators, social deduction experiences, and everything in-between. We love teaching the games, so even if you're not familiar (yet!) with what games can do lately, you'll come away having learned something new.
Your suggested donation of $10 (Venmo or cash) includes hours of gaming and all the beverages you care to drink, and it directly benefits the space rental fee and continued success of the event.
Looking forward to seeing you all for the 5th installment of this local board game meetup!

Coffee, Tea and Board Games at the Two-Hearted Queen Coffeehouse
Join us at the Two-Hearted Queen Coffeehouse this Saturday to support this incredible business, meet new people, and play fun games! See you soon!
Pop-Up Ride to Northerly Island
Supposed to pop-up to 45F on Saturday... anyone want to dust off the bike for a fun "pre-season" ride?
Idea would be to ride from the north side down to Northerly Island, to see this less well-known Chicago nature preserve (thanks Mayor Daley, and who needed Meigs Field anyway?), taking the trail onto the island, stopping to enjoy the views, and heading back north. If there is interest, we may stop at Navy Pier for food so consider bringing a lock & some money. Look for parking on Simonds Dr near Lawrence Av (just E of Lake Shore Drive), then meet where Lakefront Trail crosses Lawrence (same Lawrence & Simonds intersection). Allow for traffic if driving into the city as it can get busy this time of day.
Exact details TBD depending who shows up, but likely a 15-20 mi loop. If we have lots of folks we can consider multiple groups by speed, if not, my typical pace is about 10-12 mph, and we won't leave anyone behind so it could vary a little off that at points.
As always, rides are subject to change, so watch Meetup for updates!
Other reminders: HELMET IS MANDATORY. As is a properly maintained bike. No earbuds, earphones, or speakers please. Also recommend you carry (1) photo ID, emergency contact info & insurance card, (2) spare tube & pump/CO2 (3) water bottle. Of course dress for weather (sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, rain poncho, etc). While this is a daylight ride, headlight and taillight are recommended to make you more visible.
NOTE: All riders participate at their own risk. Neither Meetup.com nor Let's Ride organizers are responsible for your safety or enjoyment on this ride.
Hell Or High Point: Rope Climbing Competition @ First Ascent Avondale!
We’re meeting up at First Ascent Avondale for Hell or Highpoint, First Ascent’s signature roped climbing competition. Come climb, cheer people on, and hang out for a couple hours (or stay for finals + the afterparty).
How the comp runs (so you know what you’re walking into):
There are two redpoint sessions: Session 1 (10:00am–1:00pm) and Session 2 (2:00pm–5:00pm).
Open + Masters must compete in Session 1.
Rec + Intermediate are top rope only; Open is a mix of top rope + lead (and you’ll need to be able to show lead tags if you’re leading in Open).
Open Finals + Afterparty start at 5:30pm.
Meetup plan:
Three of the group admins are competing in the afternoon Intermediate division. We’ll meet by the orange chairs just past the front desk.
If you’re competing, plan to show up a bit early for check-in/warm-up and to find partners.
Belay / partner notes:
If you’re leading, you and your partner should be lead certified (and Open may require proof of lead tags, per the event rules).
If you’re new to these meetups, feel free to comment with your belay certs (TR / Lead) so we can pair folks up smoothly.
Quick notes:
We’re not affiliated with the gym—you’ll need a day pass or membership and your own gear (shoes + harness).
This event includes a spectator/belayer pass requirement during the redpoint rounds (and finals spectating is free, per the event info).
Be cool: zero tolerance for harassment or bad vibes.
Climbing has risk—safety first, always.
Hope to see you there! If you have questions (or want help figuring out which session/division fits you), drop a comment.

Learn and play board games on Monday nights!
Come play all kinds of board games on Monday nights! Both beginners and experienced gamers are welcome. You're not expected to know any of the games as we're always happy to do teach-and-plays. While the hosts will bring games, we also encourage members to bring any games they'd like to play.
**ATTENDANCE**
You do not have to arrive at 5:30 sharp! People drop in-and-out throughout the Meetup and we often play more than one game a night. For those driving, there is plenty of free parking near the location.
**FOOD & DRINK**
While there is no cover charge or minimum purchase, we do ask that you support the venue by making a purchase when attending. The brewery has a lot of non-alcoholic beverage options for those that do not drink alcohol. You are **allowed to bring outside food** into the brewery as they do not serve food.

In Person Board Game Night!
Every two weeks, we meet at 7:00 PM for an free, open board game night. When you arrive, just grab a seat + food and come find us (in the back, past the bar). This is a friendly, teach-as-we-go group with a solid mix of experienced and new board gamers. You're welcome to bring your own games or just yourself.
Most games that are played at these events are light-to-medium weight and finish in 90 minutes or less, giving folks the opportunity to play multiple games in an evening. (Heavier 2+ hour games do sometimes make it to the table as well, though, so feel free to bring them!) More involved games tend to be played earlier in the evening, and games later on tend to be on the lighter side. The mix of board game genres on hand changes every week and spans strategy, abstract, co-op, limited communication, party games, and more.
A typical event:
* 7:05 PM: introductions, going around the room and giving each attendee an opportunity to introduce themselves and pitch any games they brought and would like to play.
* 7:10 PM: we set up for the titles with the most interest and get rolling.
* Late arrivals: It’s a bit trickier once games are underway, but we often have tables that can add players mid-game. If none are available, we’ll queue you for the second round of games.
Please feel free to reach out to the organizers with any questions you have regarding event details. Hope you to see you here!

Play Social 16" Softball, Kickball and Beach Volleyball! We'll put you on a team
When Spring finally arrives in Chicago, it's our goal to be outside enjoying the weather as much as possible. And there's absolutely nothing better than joining a social intramural league that focuses on making new friends as much as the games. It's a blast getting to know new people playing and then afterwards over drinks at your league sponsor bar that all teams walk to!
Hanging out with the same group week after week for 5-7 weeks makes it pretty effortless to build lasting relationships over the duration of the season. That truly is the best part of my leagues :)
**ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME** (aka no experience required) and we can place anyone aged 21-42 on a team. Simply register by yourself or with friends and I'll put you with others around your age for the season.
Want to get on a team but can't make it to every game? No problem! We put extra players on every team for this very reason.
