11th Anniversary Celebration & Yarn Swap!
**Hooray—Fiber Friends Studio is turning 11!** For more than a decade, we've been coming together every Saturday, weaving not just yarn but a tapestry of laughter, creativity, and friendship. We've celebrated finished projects, giggled over our mistakes, and yes, even bravely unraveled a few rows together. But above all, we've built a circle of friends that feels like family.
To make our anniversary extra special, we're spicing things up with a fabulous **raffle** (and yes, there will be **cookies**—because what's a party without treats?). Our wonderful Fiber Friend **Suzanne K is hosting a Yarn Swap**, so bring your lonely or unloved skeins and trade them for something fresh and fun! The more yarn, the more fun—let's fill the room with laughter, smiles, and new treasures to take home.

📖 **About St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church**
Founded in **1910**, **St. Barbara Parish** was established to serve Polish immigrants who settled near Chicago’s booming industrial corridor of rail yards, factories, and stockyards. Named for **St. Barbara**, patron saint of miners and workers in dangerous trades, the parish became a spiritual refuge for laboring families seeking faith, stability, and community.
The current church building, completed in the **1910s**, is a stunning example of the **Polish Cathedral style** — a uniquely American expression of Catholic architecture characterized by monumental scale, classical influences, lavish ornamentation, and an emphasis on beauty as an act of devotion.
Inside, the church is richly adorned with:
* Grand altars
* Painted ceilings and murals
* Sculptural details
* Stained glass honoring saints, sacraments, and Polish religious heritage
Every element was designed to inspire awe, reinforce Catholic teaching, and reflect the pride and sacrifice of the immigrant community that built it.
For generations, St. Barbara served as a cultural, spiritual, and social anchor — hosting baptisms, weddings, funerals, festivals, and daily worship that shaped neighborhood life. As demographics evolved, the parish continued to adapt while preserving its extraordinary artistic and architectural legacy.
Today, St. Barbara remains an active parish and a treasured landmark — one of Chicago’s most impressive examples of early 20th-century Catholic church design.

🎶 About the Production
On September 20, 1955, testimony began in the murder trial of two members of Emmett Till’s lynch mob. What happened during that trial — and in the weeks and months surrounding it — would help ignite the Civil Rights Movement.
Written by Willie Round & G. Riley Mills, directed by Anthony Moseley & Dana Anderson, this production is drawn directly from The State of Mississippi vs. Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam trial transcript. It plays as a live courtroom reenactment, featuring top Chicago actors seated among the audience.
Join us as we witness this vital story — and stay to discuss its impact and legacy.

LET'S TAKE A STAINED GLASS WINDOW WORKSHOP CLASS TOGETHER! 😀🤗
Isabel Badalpour has been a respected stained glass instructor for over a decade. Her passion for the craft began at an early age through her father, Joseph Badalpour, the founder of Circle Studio Inc (established in 1975). Under his guidance, Isabel developed a deep appreciation and skill for stained glass, which she now shares with her students.
At the Stained Glass Workshop, students are guided through each step of the creative process. They learn how to break down patterns, choose from a variety of teacher-provided designs, and work with glass by cutting, foiling, and soldering. By the end of the course, students complete their own unique stained glass piece, gaining both confidence and craftsmanship.
With roots dating back to 1975, Circle Studio has long been a creative cornerstone in the community. Since establishing our dedicated stained glass workshop in 2017, we've continued to build on over 50 years of collective experience in the art and instruction of stained glass.
Our talented instructors bring more than 20 years of hands-on expertise to every class, guiding students through each step of the creative process. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, our workshops are designed to inspire confidence, skill, and self-expression—helping you create beautiful stained glass pieces that truly reflect your personal artistry.

February Free Business Networking Happy Hour
**We are excited for our FEBRUARY FREE BUSINESS NETWORKING HAPPY HOUR at New Day -- and this month's spotlight is truly something special 💛**
**I’m thrilled to be co-hosting with none other than [Sara Jane Abbott of See Jane Sparkle](https://www.seejanesparkle.com/home) \-\- and she’s also our featured Cabi stylist for the event\!**
**[Cabi](https://www.seejanesparkle.com/cabi) is much more than an apparel company. Yes, the clothing is stunning- but the heart behind the brand is what makes it shine. Through Cabi’s giveback initiatives, shoppers can help support women entrepreneurs, fund education for children globally, and create meaningful impact through local community events.**
**Style with purpose?? We love to see it. 👏🎊**
**We’re also proud to highlight [Niles Township food pantry](https://www.chicagosfoodbank.org/locations/niles-township-food-pantry/) as our featured nonprofit for the evening! Supporting neighbors facing food insecurity right here in our community is work that truly matters.**

ABOUT THE EVENT 📝 🐒
• The first rule of our Art Club is…
***YOU HAVE TO MAKE ART***
🎨 🥊 😜
• ***BYOP — BRING YOUR OWN PROJECT***
As well as your own art supplies from home to our group’s table. This is NOT an event hosted by the bar — just a group of art nerds doing our thaaang.
📮 🎟 💌
• ***DARE TO BE CREATIVE***
If you don’t have an art project, be sure to BRING ALONG a pen / pencil and a sheet of paper.
✏️ 📄 🖊
• ***First & Foremost — THIS IS ART CLUB***
While this is a fun and interactive social gathering, EXPECT to meet people who are working on their art, craft, and passion project. Individuals who plan to come thru without a project on-hand should note that others who have done the same in the past have ended up roaming, or staring at their phone, and it gets a little awkward. So, live a little and give art a try!
🛰 👀 👀
***PLEASE NOTE*** 📖‼️
• Our collective has a ***Zero Tolerance Policy*** when it comes to predatory behavior or harassment of any form. ❌
• Please be ***Mindful and Respectful*** of one another’s boundaries and personal, psychological, or emotional space at any given moment. ✅
• ***No event tickets, wristbands, or purchase necessary.*** Neighbor and Friend hangs always FREE. 💁♂️ 💁 💁♀️ ✨
