Testcontainers is an MIT-licensed open-source project and is completely free to use. However, the amount of effort required to maintain and develop new features for Testcontainers is not sustainable without proper financial backing. We need your help to achieve this.
You can learn more about sponsorship on our Open Collective and GitHub Sponsors pages.
- Full Transparency. Everyone can see where money is coming from and where it is going.
- Individual and Corporate Sponsors. Open Collective makes it easy for both individuals and companies to sponsor open-source projects.
- Potential Tax Benefits. Because funds are paid to the Open Source Collective, a 501(c)(6) organization in the U.S., there may be tax benefits for some donors (please check with your accountant).
- Automatic Invoicing. For corporate sponsors, Open Collective automatically generates and sends invoices for tracking purposes.
- Open Participation. Anyone can request reimbursement for funds spent helping the Testcontainers project, and Testcontainers can pay out to anyone.
100% of the money raised is invested back into the community. Every dollar spent must support and/or improve Testcontainers in some way. For example:
- Swag! Creating stickers, t-shirts, etc. for sponsors and community members.
- Improving the codebase.
- Improving documentation.
- Improving translations.
- Improving the website.
- User research.
- Supporting contributors.
- Sponsoring conferences.
- Sponsoring community members to represent Testcontainers at meetups, conferences, etc.
- Dedicated support for GitHub, Discord, Stack Overflow, etc.
You can see all past expenses on our Open Collective.
To acknowledge the ongoing effort of the Language Leads, they may optionally request a stipend on a monthly basis. The maximum amount of a monthly stipend is determined by the Testcontainers Steering Committee and may vary over time based on the project's financial health and based on the effort invested into a specific language. The amount is transparently shared through the expenses reporting in our Open Collective.
The definition of an "active Language Lead" will be determined and reviewed periodically by the Testcontainers Steering Committee. Maintainers that are paid by their employer to work on Testcontainers are not eligible for stipends.
