The fate of Max and Moritz [1]

MAX,
an early chess program from the late 60s written by James Gillogly in FORTRAN IV that uses alpha-beta look-ahead search of selected portions of the move tree. The program has played several complete games and many incomplete ones between frequent periods of major revisions [2].
