Please review all the information about how ChurchInfo handles donations so you can describe what you need in addition to the current functionality. ChurchInfo records donations on a deposit slip and then summarizes donations for tax purposes by generating a "tax letter" which typically covers a particular year. There is also an "envelope number" feature which facilitates donations in numbered envelopes. I believe that the envelope number can be printed on the tax report to satisfy a tax requirement somewhere in the world.

There is an automatically generated number for each donation payment- it is the id field in the record where the payment is recorded. It should be easy to surface this into a report if necessary to satisfy some tax requirement.
