The Record of Ragnarök continues with fights 7, 8, and 9 with the fate of all humanity on the line!

Hades VS. Qin Shi Huang:
This one is definitely one of the better fights; the attacks and how they are countered make the back and forth very exciting and dynamic. The backstory behind Qin Shi felt somewhat long, but was very interesting. Hades backstory happened to be rather short, as he is a major god in Greek theology and fairly well known, but it does a good job at showing us the specific version of Hades and his motivations.

Beelzebub (Baal) VS. Nikola Tesla:
I was somewhat unsure of ... this one when I saw Tesla was almost exclusively animated in CG while Baal was not. While there was a brief moment or two where the model looked off, I'd say it was rather well done and by the end I was satisfied with the fight. Seeing the other great minds of humanity in the stand was a highlight of this portion, as they add to the humor of the eccentric personality of Tesla. Given the lord of flies happens to be from the Bible, they had to do a lot of writing to integrate him into the hierarchy of Valhalla. Tesla had less of a backstory; rather, they spent a decent chunk of that time to explain theorical science to make sense of how Tesla fights.

Apollo VS. Leonidas:
This is one that feels like a miss. I'm getting tired of seeing Greek gods as this is number 5, and while Leonidas thematically makes for a good rivalry, neither characters' backstory really compels me to root for them or grasps my emotions like the other fighters this season. Another thing that bothers me about this fight is that it might be the shortest in the series thus far.

The ending teasing the next season and a special mystery has me wanting me more, but now I've got to wait probably a least another year. 8/10; still continuing strong

This JJK movie happens to recap the Shibuya Incident Arc and give a preview for the next season of the anime. While the new content happened to be pretty good, I feel as though the recap was a big miss. Out of the 2 big fights, they kind of just rushed over one of them and would be one of the few times I would use the term "over-animated". It genuinely was hard on the eyes due to the fact that they tried to take a fight and cut it down to probably about an 1/8th of the original time. There were a couple of ... scenes in the movie of minor fights that weren't needed for such a short recap, and they arguably cut out the best scenes in the 2nd fight.

I happened to think around this time that the movie wasn't worth going to, but after the recap ended, we finally got some good content. This start of the Execution Arc is going to be about the first 2-3 episodes of the new season, so you're not going to miss out on anything by missing the movie.

It's really entirely up to you whether to watch this; if you're a diehard fan by all means enjoy it in theaters. If you're a casual watcher, just wait until the season actually comes out and avoid major spoilers in the meantime.

Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? It's hard to say when there's no dungeon for the entire season. Instead Bell is getting picked up by girls at the bar, and struggling to put them down gently.

If you happened to watch Season 2 of the show, this is just more of the same, sadly. No real story progression, just petty squabbles over the Rabbit. I don't really know what to say much more than that, because that's all it really breaks down too. The setting really feels wasted over this trivial harem romance plot that's half-baked into a fantasy action dungeon-delving ... series.

To quote my last review: 'I really hope season 1 and 3 aren't the only good seasons of this show', and it sadly looks like I was right.
This entire season could probably be skipped and the overarching would be just fine if not better for it; 4/10

Dragon Ball has had a long history, including the non-canonical Dragon Ball GT. GT was about Son Goku getting turned into a kid by Pilaf, and had to run around the universe to collect the black star Dragon Balls (which were different from the normal ones.) While it had some good points and interesting story arcs in the second half, you could certainly feel the lack of budget and conciseness. Thankfully Oda went ahead and returned to the idea with Dragon Ball Daima.

King Gomah, the king of the Demon Realm, decided to turn Goku and friends into kids for fear they were too strong. This ... leads the gang to seek out a way to get to the demon realm and reverse the wish. It has a lot of the charm of the OG Dragon Ball, which may not be some people's speed if that happen to be fans who only watched Z and Super, but it makes for a whimsical journey that is a joy to watch while not slouching on fights. The new characters and additional lore on existing characters is surprisingly well done without being planned ahead of time, and it gives more reason for some side characters to be more important to the story rather than being cheerleaders on the sideline.

For Toriyama's final work involving Dragon Ball, it truly is an encapsulation of everything good about the series in a brief, low-stakes 20 episode romp through the Demon Realm. 9/10; RIP Toriyama Akira 3/1/24

A group of classmates get dropped into a new world, and are given powers from a cold-heart sage. However, Takatou happened to already have powers from the real world; to kill anything just by telling it to. And that's the whole story. Something dangerous shows up, it kills some pointless characters, it tries to kill Takatou or Dannoura, he tells it to die, and then it dies. Then the cycle happens to repeat with more and more absurd powerful beings appearing in front of Takatou and dying on the spot.
There's nothing really about this show that makes it funny or charming in the way One ... Punch Man is, as Saitama is a hero for fun and one-shots monsters and purposefully hold back on humans, all while complaining he forgot it was Sunday and he's going to miss the sale on groceries. Takatou kills things without a struggle because "it had intent to kill me" and then plays video games or sleeps. He doesn't really care about hardly anything or shows any strong emotion, and so the character is just straight to the point, one note, boring.
There's no point in watching this as it is predictable and flat; you'd be better off watching most other things. 3/10 Waste of time.

Tate no Yuusha: Season 3, Time for all the Side Quests! This season was honestly pretty slow and fast at the same time in the worst ways. With 3 different redemption arcs in a single season, they felt rather repetitive. They definitely should have spread out over other seasons to give them more impact. There's also the fact that they talk about the Phoenix all season only for it to be reserved for next season. The new characters are a nice edition and are the positive part of this season. The CG also looks pretty rough in the later episodes with the dragon in particular.
Hopefully ... this is just a slow season and the story doesn't keep trailing further off into completely pointless or shallow plots; 6/10 was hoping for a little more.

Another isekai with generic characters? Where to start? The two main girls, a high class lady and her servant have lost everything to the "Void" attacks and are looking to save the last of humanity with their holy weapons. It's a fine concept and these are the only two characters that feel fleshed out, so if the story was about that them it could've been a interesting show. Sadly, the plot revolves around a demon lord that comes back after 1000 years in the human body of a 12 year old and gets adopted by said girls from earlier. This happens to muddle the story ... and cause it to feel bland with the same over-powered protagonist slop as you see in most isekais.
The Void enemies are also very uninspired designs and don't really make for interesting enemies thus far. The show has gone to make them completely unknown as to how or why they exist for the most part, and I feel that only goes to drag down the show even further.
Overall, there's nothing to applaud or jeer in particular about this series; 5/10 just uninspired.

Dekoboko is an anime that will have mixed reactions due to its over-the-top style of humor. Me personally? I love it! There is a small and concise cast of characters that are unique and stylistically different, which keep the episodes from feeling same-y. Alyssa is the sweet, overly-doting mother to Viola, a human she found abandoned in the woods which she took to raise as her own. Viola can be very... protective of her mom, and constantly gets in people's way if she feels suspicious about them. But even though this show is a comedy, the show does take time to flesh out the relationships ... between the main cast between jokes, so they do feel like real characters unlike some other lower budget comedy animes I've seen.
Not only is the colorful cast not put to waste, neither is the magical setting. Mandrakes, faeries, and even a phoenix (who looks like an oversized chicken), there's plenty of unusual and mystical things that are ripe opportunities for puns, gags, and adult jokes.
If you were looking for a decent comedy, I would recommend this one in a heartbeat. 9/10; might watch again in the future

There are a lot of mixed feeling about The Devil is a Part-Timer!! out there, with a lot of them being somewhat justified with how long it took to get a second season and it feeling rather disappointing. The story in season 2 part 2 (really hate the part system) has picked up in pace from part 1, and even though it hasn't regained it's full grasp it had in season 1, I had found it to be enjoyable.

Whether you continue to watch after this point is hinged entirely on if you're hooked into the story or not, since this seems to be one of ... those stories that seems to do better when its more episodic and humorous as opposed to the over arcing storyline with a grand epic to tell. If these newer seasons don't spark joy, just feel free to watch season 1 again and forget the rest existed.

At this point, I'm mostly just watching to find out more about the sephirot that they're drip feeding us and whether it will actually have a meaningful payoff after all this buildup.

Boku no Kokoro wa Yabi Yatsu is another high school drama/romance, but I would say it stands out from the rest. Most of the characters play coy and hide their true intentions, which can be hard for a quiet outcast like Ichikawa to understand, but to his surprise he is adopted by the extrovert and popular model Yamada-san.
The show I think does a good job with the dialogue and keeps things interesting, even though it sometimes leans back into classic romance anime tropes at times of 'awkward situations that happen by accident'. Yamada is playful without needing to be flirty, and feels like a ... complicated character that you feel drawn towards as you learn more about her. Needless to say, I'm invested and excited for season 2 of our odd pairing of middle school students; 8/10.
