I'll try to write out a review for shows but it takes lots of time I could spend watching something else, I especially can't if i forgot what the show was about in the first place (*´・∀・)

RATING MEANINGS:
10-RECOMEND- top of the top consistently perfect not many show get here but those that do are to me masterpieces

9-RECOMEND- similar to a 10 but has small problems that decrease quality

8-RECOMEND- good enjoyable show has flaws that begin to slightly affect show but are hard to try and fix eg. deep rooted in plot ext

7-RECOMEND- most show i enjoy are here, tend to have easily fixable plot holes or problems

6-MIXED FEELINGS- enjoyable to an extent but problems in show take away from joy

5-MIXED FEELINGS- neither good or bad just perfectly balanced just ok

4-NOT RECOMMEND-usually shows that are very unbalanced in quality or flawed in a major way

3-NOT RECOMMEND/RECOMMENDED-reserved for so bad its good shows only

2-NOT RECOMMEND- horrible shows that make the watcher feel actively worse after watching. like just ravaging the bottom of that barrel and picking the splinters from under my nails for the little nutrient the wood can provide.

1-NOT RECOMMEND- the worst thing a show can be... boring. any show that i can actively fall asleep to, because at least the tier 2`s can evict any amount of emotion from my rotting corpse. but no, not these shows, they cant even do that, just dry stale crackers that would make little difference if they existed or not

see you on the dance floor

Like I tried to say, I don't think there is such a thing as objectively rating, try as I might. Having those categories helped stopping me from just giving too positive or negative ratings because I engage deeper with the medium, but that is about all that system can do. Say for example art style quality. Some people really love moe shows, others absolutely hate them, but does that make moe 'bad' as an artstyle? I don't think it does. In the same vein some things from my Ping Pong Review come to mind, where I criticized some raw and unrealistic looking animation, that didn't jive with me at all. But for some that is exactly what they want to see, or even consider good. Not to mention, I think that most of us, myself definitely included, have no real clue about the technical side of things to even rate that properly. I thank you for your kind words, but I honestly think my reviews aren't well explained at all ^^ if they help you, however, I am really happy with that. As long as you can explain what made you like or dislike a show, I think it is a good review, because let's face it: No two people have the same taste, but from describing what made you have reactions a reader might infer if a show is for them... of course, if people even use reviews as guide, and not some instant gratification just to see if someone agrees with them :D

Happy New Year to you as well!

Haha, I don't mind really! If people shitpost in a friendly way like you did, we just have a fun little conversation about it and are happy. Had some really good talks with people about those 2 anime, even if I couldnt stand them. In that way, they had quite a bit of value for me aside from just the usual "getting to know your own tastes better". Also, looking back on it, I think a main reason why I don't like those two in particular is the mindspace I was in when watching them. Back then, like 2014 or something, don't quote me on the specific date, I and two friends did a Top 100 anime challange, who of us first completed the top 100 shows. And going in the expectation that all those anime are the 'best' is quite toxic in itself. Of course, this also forced me to watch a lot of shows I usually wouldn't watch because I don't like the basic premise, artstyle or whatever (which in case of both PPtA and CB is true). That review of course is the cherry on top, because I really didn't hold back and also back then I really tried to somehow make my way of looking at those shows objective. Nowadays, I really hate talking about shows I didn't like in a bad way, and if I do, I try to make it more subjective instead. Like 'I didn't like the colour choices for Shingeki no Kyojin, everythink looks brownish to me' instead of 'The colourscheme is bad, everything is way too brown'. But I also don't want to change those 2 reviews because even though at this point there are also those Funny votes and whatever, even in the time when we had both liking and disliking reviews, those two had quite a few likes by people who perhaps didn't feel heard. So, despite it being overly harsh, and frankly, not well-written (but I never was good at presenting arguments, so whatevvs) I left those two for legacy purposes unchanged since the day I wrote them.

It isn't just YagaKimi which is in favorites but only has a 9, actually ^^ but well, regarding your question: I think favorite and high quality aren't the same by a long shot. I mean, most shows have obvious flaws, but for shows I really like it is easier to look past them. In YagaKimi for example, there is that really weird light effect that feels really overused to me. Of course, most if not all shows have some flaws. Even the 10s have in most cases not a perfect 10/10, you might notice that I use the tags in my list to give decimals, and except for one season and one movie of Gintama, the second season of Chihayafuru and the first season of Mahoutsukai no Yome I haven't given that 10/10 out. Not surprisingly though, all 3 also are favorites of mine. But on the contrary, there are also shows which I think are really good, but I just really don't enjoy, like Kyojin (again). Those just can't really end up at the top of my list, because mathematically, even if a show is somehow a 10/10 in everything else, if I don't enjoy it at all (which should be the primary purpose of entertainment), it can't go higher than 8(.2). Well, but back to the favorites: Those are shows I can just rewatch over and over, and not get tired thinking about, regardless of their quality. If anything, because I watched them so often and not just through the lens of what I like but also what others might dislike about that show, I probably know their shortcomings better than most. Take Ro-Kyu-Bu for example. I have (officially) rewatched that show 34 times, and the real number is so, so much higher. I know all the places where more budget might've made the anime visually more appealing, I know where people will criticize the themes an so on. But all that doesn't change the fact that I just love that show. Pretty similar to relationships really, where true love only begins when one can accept the shortcomings and flaws of the other party.

Damn... now those are some incomprehensible posts... and thats from someone who really sucks at making comprehensible posts.

Just for reference, are you talking about my Cowboy Bebop review or my Ping Pong review? The fact that you have PPtA in your favorites I would assume the latter? I am really sorry, but I absolutely don't remember anything OST... no, actually Soundwise from PPtA at all. And I can't say I regret that situation. Sooo... I wish you good luck in your endeavours of finding me and ripping me to shreds?
