Right now my plan is to finish Silver Spoon after Fire Punch then after that read Bloom Into You. Other than those not sure, I'm really inconsistent with reading manga lol. I've been interested in Yokohama since I've heard it's very close to Aria, hopefully will get to that this year. Also heard March comes in like a lion is close to ending so will probably read that later too.
Yup Nana is an anime I've had an eye on for a while since I've heard great things about its character drama, will watch/read that for sure, always up for a madhouse classic. Journal with Witch has been incredible, easily my fav non-sequel seasonal and one of the best drama seasonals I've seen. The directing is indeed amazing, as well as the soundtrack (by Kensuke Ushio).
Speaking of drama I'm going to watch Showa Genroku next week, a bit later than I expected to but expecting to enjoy it a lot.
Monster is something I've been hearing about for way too long, every time I make the commitment to start it or do start it something in real life ends up stopping me, and then I have the same commitment issues all over again haha. I am actually reading another one of Urasawa's works, 20th Century Boys soon, I promised a friend of mine I would a long time ago.
Absolutely lovely to see that Aria has affected you so much, goes to show how special the anime is. I really appreciated how the themes, although simple, are treated with such maturity which lets you be all the more connected. It is definitely way way more than just "beautiful" but it's also something that I find difficult to put into words, that's typical for works that have such an impact on me, and I think it makes me appreciate it all the more.
Very true, the series has perfect representation of flawed human characters, and it's extremely well done with all the supernatural elements of Monogatari as well. Speaking of the endings of character arcs being wonderful, Owarimonogatari being the conclusion to Araragi's was simply amazing. Just an incredibly fitting and satisfying end to the main series, the lead up being so engrossing and the conclusion hitting all the best notes.
I'm excited to watch LOTGH myself, I'm likely going to start it around spring of this year, usually my least busy season. The political drama aspect of it is what I'm most interested in, as well as finally getting to see Reinhard and Wen-li who I've heard so much about.
As for Aria, instantly one of my all time favourites. It's consistent with giving that warm, Iyashikei feeling I love so much, and each episode is simply bliss. The cast supports the story so well, and Akari wonderfully guides it's themes of enjoying the everyday moments and each encounter being special. Each character stays unique and just fits in this beautiful world. That being said, throughout the series, and especially Aria the Natural, Aqua and Neo Venezia become their own character in the story, also playing their own important role in the story. Origination has to be a perfect final season for this show, being more focused telling themes of change, and how although it can be a struggle, making that leap to accept change is an important, and powerful thing to do. The OST is another major standout for me, I feel like I use the word "beautiful" to describe Aria, but it's difficult to think of other ways to describe many aspects of it.
I see that you have been watching Haikyuu, a great show in my opinion, definitely one that kept me hooked throughout.
And lastly happy birthday! So sorry for being late to this, hope you enjoyed it to the fullest!
By breaks I moreso meant small breaks between episodes rather than a full anime break haha, hoping to shake off the burnout today with Sangatsu S2.
Yeah I do try to take some breaks of course lol. Just got tired of friend requests in general tbh, I sent him a request though since his favorites look solid.
Funny you say that now because I've been kinda burnt out the last day but hoping to get back into the grind soon. Don't really have a limit but I've never seen 30 or more eps, well maybe back when I was binging One Piece I might've.
Not really interested in friend requests right now, maybe I'll open them back up sometime in the future though.
How have you been, and how was LOTGH? I remember you starting it awhile ago.
Yeah for sure as far as favorite contenders, Showa Genroku I'll watch next month, there's Kingdom too. Possibly something else but not really sure yet, will just have to see. Also on a related note I'm planning to rewatch Sangatsu and maybe Aria as well in the next couple weeks.
I see what you mean, personally I feel like the movie did just the right amount of fleshing out for Reze's character in ways such as the pool scene to make the ending and ultimate reveal of her being a tragic figure like Denji be impactful. But yeah when it comes to his one-shots Fujimoto doesn't miss, I just know a Sayonara Eri adaptation would be phenomenal.
Yeah trying to grind during winter break while I can, we'll see if I can keep the streak going lol. Saw you're finishing up showa genroku rakugo shinju too, that's also something I've got to watch.
Happy holidays to you as well!
