If you've come here to leave me a mean comment, can we talk about it instead? I would love to hear your opinion! It's just a TV show, after all
"I'm Curly, a massive fucking weeb. Anime is my hobby, and I'm a fan of all genres...nice to meet you."
Hello all! My name is Curly, and I have been watching anime ever since I was a kid, but I've only been tracking it since 2020. My list does not include things I watched before 2020, so it is not up-to-date with everything I've seen.
My favorite genres/themes are Mystery, Suspense, Drama, and Horror. My favorite themes are Psychological, Adult Cast, Detective, Organized Crime, High Stakes Game, and Survival. I don't prefer isekai, harem, sports, or romance, but there will always be exceptions, and I watch all genres. When it comes to romance I prefer GL/BL.
I am a university student majoring in English. I speak English and some Spanish, and I know some basic Japanese. I'm more positive than I am negative. I find I am much happier focusing on the good parts rather than the bad. No anime is perfect but I still dish out 10s if I feel the flaws don't detract enough from what makes it fantastic.
Besides anime I am also really into video games and animation from anywhere else in the world. I only recently started tracking manga on here, so it is not perfectly up-to-date.
Movies aren't included in my favorite anime anymore, but when they were, Kiki's Delivery Service and A Silent Voice were inlcuded.
7-10 is a good rating, 6/5 is a very mixed rating, and 4 and below is a bad rating. But that's just my opinion. I try to rate based on quality and not just personal feelings, but there can never be a truly objective rating of anything.
I like to write reviews, but please take everything I say in them with a grain of salt. They are just my personal thoughts and some of them are much more thought out and researched than others.
I am opinionated, but open to other people's opinions. Nothing can be truly objective and I know every anime is someone's favorite, even if it's not mine, and I think that's beautiful. I think it's good to be friends with people who disagree with you. If everyone agreed all the time, the world would be very boring. Always remember, it's just a story!
I kinda look like this
Some games I like!
My taste in games is varied. This top ten has been accumulating since my childhood. Here's my backlogg'd if you're interested https://www.backloggd.com/u/Curlybrace101/
Honorable mentions include Your Turn To Die, just about every famous RPGMaker horror game ever, the Five Night's at Freddy's series, a bunch of other Pokemon entries, the Professor Layton Series, and Undertale. I liked adventure games

Wow, Kino's Journey is not at all what I expected! I'm really enjoying the psychological aspects and Kino as a character! I was afraid it was going to be a purely episodic anime at first but it seems like little things are tying together as the episodes go by which is nice. I definitely didn't expect the twist in episode 4 :o I'm only about halfway through but I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of the series as well!
I'm also very excited to watch No.6 as it's something I've had my eye on for years!! I'm glad to hear it has a happier ending than Banana Fish, so I'll be looking forward to that ;D I will try to start it as soon as possible!!
Trigun Stampede isn't something I would have really considered watching myself, but I have heard a lot of good about it, and with your recommendation I'll definitely have to give it a go at some point!!
Thank you so much for these recommendations!! I really appreciate them and I'm sure I'll enjoy them all :3
I hope it was not a bummer for you having to pick more titles to recommend to me. I can say from the get-go that the three titles you recommended are right up my alley, so I am not concerned at all about them not being to my taste. I will definitely get to them once I am a bit freer from vacations.
Wishing you lovely holidays and that this year will be kind to you. I also hope that your Santas have given you a heck of good recs!
Ah and many of the characters are somewhat annoying, and it has some sexual humor that is so forcibly put in there that it made me feel, for example, in a scene out of context I said: "SIS, THEY'RE FULLY CLOTHED AND 2 METERS APART FROM EACH OTHER AND NOT REMOTELY TOUCHING OR BLUSHING OR SAYING ANYTHING LEWD, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING PERVERT?".
The animation and soundtrack were solid tho.
As for Fractale... eeeeeeeeeeeh. I think it was fine till near the end. It has a lot of ideas which didn't get developed well.
Just before you wrote your message, I finished the game! This was insane. This was the most convoluted "time travel" story I've ever seen. There were little pieces of the puzzle I got right but overall I had no chance to guess what was coming. I was blown away when they kept coming up with new explanations to things I didn't even think of.
I wasn't prepared for a finale this long. I miscalculated my time and ended up staying up almost all night. Those extra flowchart pieces just kept coming. ð And good thing I double checked or I would have missed the alternative ending.
Sure! It's from the blog retro.land (that's the URL), it's full of exciting (and very long) articles, mostly about the origin stories of games (both known and lesser known), introducing the author, how the publisher firm was founded, how they convinced more and more stores to sell their games, the struggles during development, and things like that. I share you the Ace Attorney article if you want to try and translate it. It's worth checking for the pictures too.
I hoped so, I heard it's great! There's an article (in Hungarian) where a retro fan collects the whole history of the series. It also mentions that the criterion for releasing the trilogy for Nintendo consoles was that it had to contain exclusive content. And so the publisher kept pushing until the author gave in and made a 4th exclusive entry (which turned out very good, but with a more serious tone). I wonder if it's still Nintendo exclusive
